Doctor Turner Introduces Newest Technology to LASIK Surgeons

LASIK Specialist, Dr. Stephen Turner, introduced the newest refractive treatment to surgeons from around the world at the ASCRS meeting recently in San Francisco.  In the past, people with high amounts of near-sightedness could not have LASIK as it was considered unsafe.  A new treatment, Visian, was just approved by the FDA and is considered safe and effective in treating myopia, commonly called near-sightedness.

Dr. Stephen Turner is the first surgeon in Northern California to perform this procedure and has had excellent results and high patient satisfaction using the new treatment.  Visian can be compared to placing a contact lens behind the iris and in front of the natural lens.  Unlike LASIK, there is no need to remove corneal tissue and the procedure can often provide better vision than LASIK, especially in patients with high myopia.
