Possible Lens Replacement Therapies

Many of the new technologies (such as Crystalens, ReSTOR, and ReZoom) that are used for treating cataracts provide good vision at both distance and near. It has now become apparent that people undergoing cataract surgery are given a great advantage when choosing these more advanced technologies. They are no longer required to wear glasses at all times when trying to see up close.

In many cases, people struggle with reading but are not yet considered to be candidates for cataract surgery. Perhaps the natural lens in their eye is still clear but no longer allows focus on near objects. In cases such as this, the surgeon may allow for an elective form of surgery known as a clear lens replacement therapy.

Similar to cataract surgery, the patient's natural lens is replaced with an artificial lens. This artificial lens is chosen to provide better near vision than is obtained by the person's own natural lens.

If you are interested in finding out if this treatment is an option for you and your lifestyle, please call to schedule an appointment or to talk to one of our vision correction counselors.
